Displaying certificates under Linux with gcr-viewer
Problem: You have a certificate that you want to look at. How?
Under Windows you doubleclick the certificate and inspect it.
Under Linux? Probably you start by calling man openssl or
searching the net for openssl display certificate. Then a
dozen minutes later you have figured out in what format the
certificate is and what kind of certificate it is and thus
matched it with the mirriad of byzantine options for the
openssl command...
But no. Actually there is the gcr-viewer command from the
Gnome sphere that is nearly as good as Window's version.
The only problems discovered so far is that it doesn't decode the various certificate extensions as well as Windows does and, as is nearly the rule with GUI tools, doesn't have a man page...
